Police seek witnesses to Eyemouth assault

Police in the Scottish Borders are appealing for information following an assault in Eyemouth High Street, near the William Spears statue around 1.30am on Sunday, August 31.

A 23-year-old man was approached from behind and punched to the head, before falling to the ground.

He sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene by the Scottish Ambulance Service.

The suspect is described as having short dark hair, aged 20-25, 5ft 8ins tall and wearing a white t-shirt and jeans.

Officers are also eager to speak to two people who they believe witnessed the assault. One witness, a male, is described as having a heavier build and was wearing jeans, a white t-shirt and a dark jacket. The woman is described as having blonde hair and wearing white jeans.

PC Callum Dixon of Eyemouth Police Station said: “Since the assault, we’ve been conducting a number of enquiries and now have a description of the suspect and two witnesses who we’re also eager to speak to.

“Anyone who may recognise these descriptions, or have information about the incident itself, is urged to get in touch as soon as possible.”
