Police recover £20,000 worth of drugs on A1

Three men have been arrested and charged under the Misuse of Drugs Act after police recovered a large quantity of drugs from a vehicle on the A1 at on the A1 at Cockburnspath yesterday.

Officers stopped a Ford Galaxy car and found over two and a half kilos of cannabis inside.

An estimated value for the recovered cannabis is £20,000.

The men aged 28, 31 and 35 are schedule to appear at Jedburgh Sheriff Court today.

Inspector Calum McDonald said: “Police Scotland is committed to keeping people safe, and this includes removing drugs from the streets of our communities, and bringing those responsible for their supply to justice.

“Yesterday’s seizure came about through the kind of routine road check that happen on a daily basis across the Scottish Borders roads network, and demonstrates the value of such activity, not only in enforcing road traffic legislation, but also in disrupting the activities of serious and organised criminals.”
