Police are appealing for witnesses after two boats were broken into while docked in Eyemouth Harbour, with a £2,000 laptop stolen from one.

Local officers were contacted on Sunday, April 14, after the owner of a fishing vessel discovered it had been entered and a laptop, valued at around £2,000, stolen from within the wheelhouse.

A similar incident was reported to police on Monday following a break-in onboard another boat, which happened sometime in the last fortnight. Nothing was stolen on this occasion and officers are investigating whether both crimes are linked.

A police spokesman said: “As both of these incidents occurred in the same area over a short space of time, we are carrying out numerous lines of enquiry to determine if the same individuals are responsible.

“Anyone who remembers seeing anything suspicious around Eyemouth Harbour in the past couple of weeks is asked to contact police immediately.

“Similarly, anyone with any further information that can assist with our enquiries is also asked to come forward.”

Those with information are asked to either call in at their local police station; contact Police Scotland on 101 or phone Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
