A local production team has produced this 15-minute podcast about Ford.
It tells the story of Lady Waterford, who came to live in Ford Castle more than 150 years ago after the tragic death of her husband in Ireland.
Keith and Lynne Allan, former BBC Radio producers and reporters, run WebCast Productions, which is part of the Old Dairy Concept Store at Ford.
They became so interested in the life of Lady Waterford that they decided to tell her story and set about interviewing Lord and Lady Joicey of Ford & Etal Estates and Margaret Storm, an ex-pupil who used to go to the school in Lady Waterford Hall.
“Lady Waterford really was a most interesting and remarkable woman,” said Lynne Allan, who produced the programme,
“Not only was she an accomplished artist whose murals can still be seen in the hall but she was a fantastic builder who left her stamp on the village with a beautiful fountain, blacksmith’s forge, and a school which is now Lady Waterford Hall.”
