Saturday night is obviously a time when many people would usually get together for social occasions and events.
With pubs, clubs and restaurants currently closed, there are concerns some people may consider inviting friends round to their house for a get-together.
But Lothian and Borders Police have issued the following warning on social media: “Holding house parties is against Government #StayHomeSaveLives measures and could increase the spread of #Coronavirus.”
The police are urging everyone to follow the guidelines set out by the Scottish Government.
People should only be going out for shopping for essentials, travelling to work if you can’t work from home, daily exercise or a medical need.
The only people who should be in your home are your immediate family – no one else.
