The following people were elected as members of Cockburnspath Community Council: Pauline Hood, David Arnott, Angela Brading, Kate Tulloch, Alan (Griz) Gribben, Kevin Craig, Jean Virtue and Jim Black.
At a subsequent meeting of the new council, officials were elected. Pauline Hood takes on the role as chair with David Arnott vice-chairman. Kate Tulloch was appointed secretary with Angela Brading appointed treasurer.
The next meeting of the community council will be held on Wednesday, March 13, at 7pm in Cockburnspath Primary School.
Secretary Kate Tulloch said: “We wish to thank those members who stood down and who have contributed greatly to the community council over the past few years, and in many cases, many years, and wish them well.
“In particular, we acknowledge the substantial contribution made by retiring chairman John Hay.
“It’s good to know that many of them will continue to attend meetings, and support the new council with their experience and knowledge which will be gratefully received.
“Also, we wish to thank our returning officers, Mandy Craig and Pam Wilson who did an excellent job with the election, and Councillor Joan Campbell who officiated and assisted with queries. Obviously thanks go to all who turned out in wet, cold conditions to cast their votes - thank you all.
“We hope that you will all continue to support us as you have in the past, and look forward to seeing you at the March meeting.
“The purpose of a community council is to seek and represent the views of their local community, and we look forward to public engagement on a variety of issues in the future.
“Please help us to represent you and our community by attending meetings, and engaging with us.”
