Football pundit Pat Nevin, who lives in Duns, will contribute to a new weekly sports-only newspaper in Scotland funded through crowd-sourcing.
The former Chelsea, Everton and Scotland footballer will now have to wait to see if enough people are prepared to make donations of either £5, £10, or £100 for the project to get off the ground.
A campaign to raise £50,000 to launch the weekly sports has begun, and the target needs to be reached within 30 days.
A £5 pledge will get the donor a copy of the paper delivered to their door. Those pledging £10 will get a copy of the pilot issue and be named as a ‘supporter’ within its pages. Those pledging £100 will be named as a ‘founding patron’ within its pages.
The money will only be taken if the target is reached; the initial issue printed in late April or early May.
