Ayton Post Office closed on March 22 following the resignation of the subpostmaster and the withdrawal of the premises for the postal services use due to the expiry of the lease but Post Office Ltd made clear its intention to continue providing a Post Office service in Ayton.

The new post office services are only 170 yards from the old post office.
