I cannot express my sincere gratitude enough as the amount of money raised is totally unbelievable in the current financial climate. The people of the Borders have dipped very deeply into their pockets and have raised £3,948. Gift Aid has still be added to this amount.
Special thanks has to go to Kenny Thompson, Zumba Berwick (www.zumbaberwick.co.uk), without whose help this event would not have been possible. Not only did Kenny provide his services free for the afternoon he also promoted the event at all his classes throughout the Borders.
As to be expected his enthusiasm on the day was exceptional.
Various other fundraising events are planned for this year as follows:
Sunday, May 15 - Plant Sale, this year to be held in the Volunteer Hall. Anyone who has any spare plants to donate will be most welcome. These can be collected nearer the time.
Friday, June 10 - Swishing Night at Putton Mill.
Friday, September 2 - Pamper Night in the Volunteer Hall.
Sunday, December 4 - Christmas Concert in Duns Parish Church.
A total of £8,800 has been sent to Macmillan Cancer Support headquarters in 2010 for accreditation to the Borders General Hospital Macmillan Centre.
If anyone would care to join this very worthwhile charity please contact Caroline Prentice on 07817473339 or any committee member.
