Overwhelming generosity to Macmillan

SIR, - On behalf of the Duns Committee of Macmillan Cancer Support I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who either took part or sponsored the ladies who spent a most enjoyable, if tiring, afternoon on Sunday, January 16, taking part in a Zumba Marathon - 100 minutes to help celebrate Macmillan Cancer Support’s Centenary Year.

I cannot express my sincere gratitude enough as the amount of money raised is totally unbelievable in the current financial climate. The people of the Borders have dipped very deeply into their pockets and have raised £3,948. Gift Aid has still be added to this amount.

Special thanks has to go to Kenny Thompson, Zumba Berwick (www.zumbaberwick.co.uk), without whose help this event would not have been possible. Not only did Kenny provide his services free for the afternoon he also promoted the event at all his classes throughout the Borders.

As to be expected his enthusiasm on the day was exceptional.
