The 14th fairway of the golf club is above the now buried ancient monastery of Sheen where the remains of King James were last witnessed.
As the King was ex-communicated by the Pope for breaking the Treaty of Perpetual Peace by invading England, his body could not be buried by the English king, Henry VIII, and it lay in Sheen monastery for many years. It is not known where his body was buried.
This newly-installed monument is probably the only dedicated physical memorial to the dead Scots King in the UK.
The mnew memorial is to be officially unveiled on Sunday, March 24, 2014.
