A one-way system round Park Side, Coldstream, onto Home Place has finally been agreed.
Consultation with residents resulted in the majority favouring a reduction in the length of the one way system originally proposed by Scottish Borders Council roads officers. This means that once implemented the one-way system will only extend along Park Side; and Home Place from its junction into Bennecourt Drive to its junction with Duns Road, will remain two-way.
Parking restrictions had also been recommended on one side of Duns Road near the Home Place junction. However, Coldstream & District Community Council and local residents were concerned that that would simply move the problem of vehicles parking near the junction from one side of the road to the other and their suggestion that the restrictions be extended onto both sides of Duns Road past The Manse was accepted by members of Berwickshire Area Forum. This proposal is more restrictive than the original, and means that statutory and public consultation will need to be done again.
