Missing and damaged Christmas lights in Chirnside are going to cost around £300 to replace.
A spokesperson for Chirnside Common Good Association said “We wish to express their disappointment about the damage to the village Christmas lights. There are 110 light bulbs either missing or not working - 82 of these at the area at the Bowling Club.
“The Christmas lights are only possible due to the support of the community attending fund raising events and the hard work by the members of Chirnside Tartan Army who put them up.
“It will cost us approximately £300 to replace the bulbs. There is evidence of them being removed and thrown on the ground and broken.
“It’s very disappointing. Incidents like this make it harder to carry on having Christmas lights which are enjoyed by the majority of the village residents.”
