New van for Coldstream’s mobile PO

Mobile Post Office customers in Norham, Greenlaw, Eccles and Hutton will be served in a new vehicle after subpostmistress Mary Clark took delivery of one of 40 new vans.

The mobile service run from Coldstream Post Office travels through Berwickshire and north Northumberland five days a week.

Customers can post letters and parcels, do their personal banking such as cash withdrawals, they have access to savings and insurance via the mobile service which also provides motor vehicle licensing, pre-ordering currency, checking passports services.

Kevin Gilliland, Post Office Network Director, said: “We are very pleased to see this new mobile post office take to the road to provide vital services for customers in these areas.

“Post Office is modernising to meet customers’ needs. We are investing in services across our network to make it easier for customers, whether that means they are served via one of our new vehicles in more isolated areas or at a modernised high street branch.”

Norham, Greenlaw, Eccles and Hutton have been served by the mobile post office for five years now, after losing their local post offices .

“Anything that can be done at the Coldstream sub-post office, can be done in the mobile post van,” Mary said when she first hit the road in her mobile post office van.


Monday: Norham 9-11am; Hutton 12-1pm; Greenlaw 2-4pm.

Tuesday: Greenlaw 9-11am; Eccles 12-1.30pm; Norham 2-4pm.

Wednesday: Norham 9-11am; Greenlaw 11.30-1.30pm;

Thursday: Greenlaw 9-11am; Eccles 11.30am-1.30pm; Norham 2-4pm.

Friday: Norham 9-11am; Hutton 12-1pm; Greenlaw 3-4pm.
