New social work charges were introduced by Scottish Borders Council on April 1, reflecting clients’ financial means and ability to pay.
The updated charging policy for residential and non-residential social work services follows a review of the policy after significant changes in legislation and service provision, including the introduction of Self Directed Support (SDS).
Service users will receive invoices detailing the new charges, along with guidance notes.
Councillor Frances Renton, SBC’s executive member for social work said: “If anyone still has concerns or would like more information, I would encourage them to contact social work for advice. Staff have been fully briefed and will be available to provide more detail if required.”
