New houses for Westruther

six houses are to be built on a site in Westruther, where previous applications for 13 and then nine houses were turned down.

When the previous applications were refused it was on the basis that the site was outwith the village boundary, however, it has since been designated as a housing site in the latest amendment to the region’s Local Plan.

Six villagers objected to the application and Gordon and Westruther Community Council asked that the plans are “appropriate to the requirements of the village”.

The community council also commented that there are houses and plots in the village that remain unsold and undeveloped.
