After months of hard work and a lot of patient waiting, the children and staff at Little Reivers Childcare and Kreative Kids in Duns finally got to enjoy their brand new garden.
On Friday, May 1 it was officially opened for exploration by three year old Isla Rodger from Duns in the morning and then again in the afternoon, by six year old Charlie Leather, also from Duns.
Amanda Wilson, Manager at Little Reivers and Kreative Kids was delighted with the end result: “When we first heard we’d been awarded the funding from The Big Lottery’s Communities and Families Fund, we were over the moon.
“It’s been great planning, developing and watching the garden take shape,.
She went on: “It has been really hard to be patient waiting for the work was being done. But it has been worth the wait”
Playskape has been designed to ensure that the children can access a wide and varied range of ‘rich play experiences’.
To that end, the area includes an activity gym and a den area as well as a woodland area, a mud kitchen and a newly developed area for loose parts.
Amanda said that the feedback has been really positive. “Both the children and parents have commented “what a transformation” and “it’s amazing”, she said of the project set up by Berwickshire Housing Association.
