A £1.6 million water project has been completed to provide increased security of supply – increasing by six times the amount of drinking water that can be stored in Dunbar.

Scottish Water’s new service reservoir at Spott Road has been constructed as a response to the town’s expansion, providing an extra reserve of high-quality drinking water readily available for homes and businesses in the area.

Like elsewhere in the county, drinking water for Dunbar is supplied from the Castle Moffat Water Treatment Works near Garvald.

Treated drinking water is often fed to service reservoirs, where it is securely stored and ready to be piped onwards to customers’ taps.

The new service reservoir, constructed from reinforced concrete and is an enclosed structure delivering increased security of supply for Dunbar.
