The British Horse Society honoured the individuals and organisations who have supported the leading equestrian charity’s work at an awards ceremony at Saddlers Hall in the City of London.
The BHS Borders committee received the prestigious Chairman’s Commendation award for their exceptional work. The award was presented by the Society’s President Martin Clunes.
For a decade, the BHS Borders committee has run the acclaimed Borders Festival of the Horse which celebrates the equestrian culture of the region. Established in the wake of the catastrophic foot and mouth outbreak, the first Festival recognised that the horse could be used as a spur to the regeneration of the rural economy. Ten years on and annual participation exceeds 10,000.
Wanda Dodd, BHS Borders chairman, said: “The committee was totally gobsmacked to have received the award, which will make us even more enthusiastic about doing even more!”
