Members of Borders Voluntary Care Voice held their annual meeting with local MSPs last week.
Christine Grahame, Claudia Beamish and John Lamont were at the event in Old Gala House, Galashiels, to discuss a wide range of health and social care issues with members of the Borders-wide voluntary organisation.
Jim Hume was unable to attend, but the Liberal Democrats were represented when local councillor Catriona Bhatia later took part in an informal session with the attendees.
Among the topics discussed were health and social care integration; Self-Directed Support and its roll-out in the Scottish Borders; welfare reforms; SBC’s decision to create an arms-length organisation for social care,;and the Smith Commission recommendations.
Co-ordinator of Borders Voluntary Care Voice, Jenny Miller said: “We are grateful to the MSPs for taking the time to come along each year and discuss a wide range of issues. This event gives us a chance to share information and to highlight any concerns we might have about health and social care issues in the Scottish Borders.”
