To highlight Dementia Awareness week, Borders MP Michael Moore is using the opportunity to encourage people who are concerned about Alzheimer’s to open up and talk to their doctor, family, and friends.
Mr Moore is also using Dementia Awareness Week to advertise an awareness event in the Borders on June 5 at the Buccleuch Arms Hotel, St Boswells between 18:30 and 20:30.
Commenting on Dementia Awareness Week, Mr Moore said: “One in three people over the age of 65 will develop dementia, and as a local MP, all too often I see first-hand the devastating impact the condition has - not only the person with dementia but their family, friends and carers too.
“Across the UK, on average less than half of those people have received a diagnosis. Diagnosis is the key that unlocks access to support services, so I encourage people who are concerned about Alzheimer’s to open up and talk to their doctor, family, and friends.
