Heather Smith and Amy Wight of Eyemouth Ministry of Youth, completed the Edinburgh Moonwalk on June 18 and raised £500 for breast cancer charities.
The two 13-year-olds completed the walk in just over eight hours, and also at the walk was Keira-Anne McAleese (also 13) who worked as a volunteer helper on the night as well as being there to cheer on the others.
Heather and Amy said this was a tremendous experience for anyone to take part in and they would encourage more young people to give it a try – although a difficult challenge, the incentive of raising money for a good cause was what kept them going through the night.
The Ministry of Youth has more fund raising projects on the go and next weekend they are holding a coffee morning on Saturday, July 9, in the Masons Hall, Eyemouth; adults £1, children 50p. Includes coffee/tea and scone/biscuit, tombola, raffle, lucky dip etc.
