A man has been seriously injured after a crash on a rural road in Berwickshire.
The collision happened on the B6355 Chirnside to Ayton Road near Peelwalls Farm in Berwickshire at around 4.30pm.
The silver car left the road while negotiating a double bend and struck a tree before coming to rest down an embankment, police said.
The 43-year-old driver received serious injuries and was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary. His condition is now described as stable.
The road was closed for around four hours to allow police to carry out a collision investigation and officers are now appealing for witnesses.
Pc Davy Johnson said: “This accident has unfortunately left the driver with serious injuries. We are keen to establish the full circumstances and would ask anyone with information to contact us.”
