The fund will benefit registered charities, not for profit and community groups registered in Reston and Auchencrow, Coldingham, Cockburnspath and Granthouse. Anyone interested in finding out more about the fund and sharing their ideas on how the fund could benefit the community is welcome to attend.
The Drone Hill Wind Farm fund will provide £40K per year for the next 25 years to be shared among the four community council areas stated above.
The Scottish Community Foundation (SCF) has been appointed by the wind farm operator, AES, to manage the community fund. The Foundation will work with communities to help them decide how funds should be allocated, using its grant-making expertise to ensure positive long lasting impact.
Paul Donaldson, operations manager for AES, Drone Hill Wind Farm, said: “We are delighted to be setting up this fund, which will provide financial support to local community projects throughout the lifetime of the wind farm.”
The first funding round is worth £20K, with a further £20K to be released early next year. Grant application forms will be available at both events with a deadline of mid-June for completed forms. Application forms can be collected from the community councils.
