John Lamont MSP has once again joined the fight against breast cancer as part of ‘wear it pink’ day. The event is organised by Breast Cancer Now and is encouraging as many people as possible to wear an item of pink clothing on October 23 and donate to show their support.

Now in its 14th year, ‘wear it pink’ has raised over £27 million thanks to the generosity of many thousands of people taking part. This money goes to world-class breast cancer research that saves and improves lives, giving quicker diagnosis and more effective treatments.

Mr Lamont said: “This year thousands of people from across Scotland will come together in schools, colleges and businesses to show their support for this campaign. By simply wearing an item of pink clothing and donating you can do your bit to help in the fight against breast cancer.

“Every year around 4,500 people in Scotland are diagnosed with breast cancer, with around 1,000 dying from the disease. The work done by the Breast Cancer Campaign will help to fund research that can improve this survival rate and hopefully find a cure.

“That is why I was delighted to dress up and do my bit. When this disease harms the lives of individuals and families throughout Scotland and I feel that it is only right that we do our bit in the Borders to help.”
