Duns Players take to the stage again this week with their latest offering, Amanda Whittington’s comedy ‘Ladies’ Day’.
A group of fish factory workers - Pearl, Jan, Shelley and Linda - head off for a girls’ outing to Ladies Day at Royal Ascot in York. What could possibly go wrong?
Out go the wellies and overalls and in come the high heels and fascinators as the girls doll themselves up for a flutter on the horses. As the day unfolds, the champagne flows, secrets spill out, things get messy and life begins to look as though it will never be the same again.
The play, which reviews say has “all the warmth of a Calendar Girls or Full Monty”, is directed by Peter Lerpiniere & Hannah Hay, and is deftly performed by a cast of seasoned Players, plus some newer faces.
Performances at the Volunteer Hall, Duns, Thursday - Saturday, September 25, 26 and 27, at 7.30pm. Tickets £7 (£5 concessions) from Nairns Newsagents, Duns, or on the door.
