Transport Police were called to the main east coast railway line just north of Berwick railway station at around 9.30am on Wednesday, October 26, following reports of an injured man on the tracks.
The man, who suffered serious head, back and foot injures was treated at the scene by emergency services and has been taken to hospital. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening and officers are working to establish the circumstances surrounding how the man sustained his injuries.
Train services on the line were disrupted for several hours while emergency services dealt with the incident.
