All wards in the Borders General Hospital and Community Hospitals across NHS Borders have now reopened following recent cases of confirmed norovirus.
Norovirus season is however still officially open, and the virus remains present across Scotland. Isolated cases are being treated in the BGH and the situation continues to be managed by NHS Borders Infection Prevention and Control Team with support from frontline colleagues.
Evelyn Rodger, NHS Borders Director of Nursing and Midwifery said: “Although the Borders General Hospital and our Community Hospitals currently have no ward closures this can change very quickly. In order to safeguard vulnerable patients and enable us to limit the spread of this highly infectious virus, we continue to ask members of the public to carefully consider their visits.
