AS they prepare to become a Community Trust, the Eyemouth & District Iniative Group are making the future of Eyemouth Town Hall one of their priorities and are keen for some input from local residents.
An Historic Scotland category B-listed building, the Town Hall has fallen into a serious state of disrepair and has been unused for a number of years.
While urgent repairs have been carried out by Scottish Borders Council, there remains a substantial amount of restoration work required at considerable cost.
But community responses to the Eyemouth Initiative overwhelmingly have highlighted rescuing the Town Hall as a major project for the new Trust. To attract sufficient funding for the work, however, the Trust must demonstrate a need for the building which cannot be met elsewhere in the town.
To help gather this information open days will be held on Friday, November 30 from 10am to 3pm and Saturday December 1 from 9.30am to 1.30pm.
Trust representatives will be on hand to gather information and ideas on how the Town Hall could be improved; what facilities the building could offer and which groups would be keen on using it.
If you are unable to visit on the open days you are urged to send your answers to these questions to the new Trust at email@example.com.
