Greenlaw is preparing for its annual festival, to beheld this weekend between Friday June 26 and Sunday June 28.
Celebrations start on the Friday night, with a family quiz followed by the Ceilidh Band and Ruby Wilkinson with her Junior Scottish Country Dancers.
Saturday continues the festival spirit with the crowning of Samantha Hogg as the 2015 Greenlaw Maid, welcomed to the role by last year’s incumbent, Megan Muir.
There were a record number of entries for the position with 10 entrants. The 2015 court is: Charlee McLean and Marnie Orr (senior attendants), Jack Baxter (herald), Jack Hume (P6/7 usher), Zoe Redpath (P6/7 attendant), Declan Donaldson (P4/5 usher), Bethan Denholm (P4/5 attendant) Jack Hogg (P3/4 usher), Kaleigh Donaldson (P3/4 attendant), Ciaran Hughes (P1/2 usher), Grace Kelly (P1/2 attendant).
Samantha will be piped from her home to the Green, starting at 12.25pm, before the crowning ceremony and procession with Duns Pipe Band at 12.30pm.
On the Saturday there will also be a car boot sale on Greenlaw Green, between 1-5pm.
Spaces are £5 a car, and prior booking is essential: contact Duncan for information on 07919130221.
For the more adventurous there will be the Spider Mountain and assault course, a sea squid inflatable, and a coconut shy and tombola, as well as the usual stalls.
And even the festival programme is fun, with sudokus, crosswords, word games and join the dot puzzles in its 48 pages.
After a short breather the disco, hosted by F.O.G., gets underway between 7pm and midnight.
Then it’s a matter of being up bright and early on Sunday for the Festival Family Service in Greenlaw Church, held by Reverend Nicholson.
This is followed by registration for the Pet Show, childrens sports, the tug-of-war and the wheelbarrow obstacle race (bring your own wheelbarrow).
The weekend will then be rounded off with the Grand Raffle Draw and then the prizegiving from 3pm, and the plastic duck race from 4pm.
