DESPITE opposition from 14 members of the public, planning permission has been granted for a house, garage and access road to be built on land west of No 12 Sunnybraes, Gordon.

Unacceptable intrusion, loss of open space for the access road, part of the site being outside the village boundary, adverse impact on local wildlife and little change from a previous planning application that was turned down were among the reasons given for opposing the development.

However, planning officers felt that the application complied with council policies and that by attaching a number of conditions to cover the enviroment, residential amenity etc, most areas of concern would be covered. Scottish Borders councillors at Monday’s planninng committee approved the application, with the 24 planning conditions attached.
