This Sunday (August 14) Bowhill House and Country Estate will open its gates free of charge to all those with the surname Scott, to celebrate the birthday of the region’s most famous literary master - Sir Walter Scott.
The day will see a celebration of all his works, with presentations and recitals from the team at Abbotsford and a display from Loch Carron of a selection of the famous Scott tartans.
Sarah Peat, customer service manager, said: “The Scott name is very dear to everyone at Bowhill, not only is it the surname of our Duke and Duchess, but Bowhill has been a seat of Clan Scott for many centuries. We all took part in the Clan Gathering in 2010 and we are delighted to have the chance to celebrate the heritage of the name again.
“Although Scotts will be getting in free, everyone is welcome to come along and celebrate with us. We are hoping the whole community will come and join us to celebrate Sir Walter Scott’s birthday.”
