Police are appealing for information and issuing a warning to the public after receiving reports of men trying to sell generators.

Between 2pm and 6.30pm on Wednesday July 16, officers in the Duns and Eyemouth areas received calls about two Irish men driving a Silver Mercedes.

The men had approached farm and harbour workers offering to sell generators.

One victim in Coldstream purchased a generator only to find that it did not work.

Officers are asking the public to come forward if they can help trace the men.

Chief Inspector Paula Clark said: “Anyone who has information that can assist with our enquiries is asked to come forward.

“I would advise members of our community not to purchase a generator if approached by these men and report any sightings to police immediately.”

Those with information can contact Police Scotland on 101 or alternatively call the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
