The French flag was flying high outside Gavinton Village Hall on Saturday night.
More than 80 hungry people turned up at the hall for a taste of France, and and what a taste it was.
Tout la monde agreed that the food, provided by a keen crew of excellent cooks from the village, was authentic and absolutely delicious.
The well chosen French wine was a perfect accompaniment to the treats such as Daube de bouef á la Provançale and feuilleté aux asperges amongst others.
The puddings were amazing too.
Many of the guests arrived specially attired in stripey tops and berets which all added to the fun of the evening.
The café music provided by Alan Rowland added that certain something to the atmosphere.
The joy and care with which the Gavinton Village Hall committee presented the evening clearly showed in the delightful event.
Everybody had a wonderful time and all left with smiles and full ventres (tums).
What will the theme of the next food night be? Whatever it is, we can’t wait.
