In May 2016 a new community council for Gavinton, Fogo and Polwarth was elected and has been meeting every six weeks to discuss and action matters of local interest and importance, such as local broadband, wind farms, planning applications and road repairs.

Amanda Stewart, David Ward, Bryce Weir, Jean Coleman and Terry O’Gorman from Gavinton; Carole Wright from Fogo; Kirsten Arthur from Polwarth; Lorraine Tait from Reacleughhead and Keith Dickinson and Steve Hunter from Cothill aim to be active, progressive and motivated to make the community one of the best in the Borders and to communicate with local residents so they know what is going on.

Their new Gavinton, Fogo and Polwarth community website is now operating - - and features details about the history of the region, community council information and items of local interest including local news and forthcoming events, plus links for local people to contact the website or community councillors

The community council will keep local residents up-to-date with what’s going on via the website and their new Facebook page,
