Scotland’s first cable wakeboarding park at Dunbar is making a splash after scooping a tourism accolade at the Scottish Thistle Awards.
Described by judges as “an exciting, inventive and innovative product,” Foxlake Adventures named Best Outdoor/Adventure Experience at the Central South East regional final of the competition.
Held at Prestonfield House in Edinburgh, the Thistle Awards celebrate excellence and success within the local tourism industry. Foxlake Adventures, which received its four star Visitor Centre Quality Assurance grading from VisitScotland in September, was praised for showing “drive and passion for the business and successfully targeting a wide range of visitors, as evidenced by very positive feedback about the customer experience on social media.”
The water adventure park, a social enterprise, is on the edge of the John Muir Way. Its wakeboarding lake has two cable tows along with a host of obstacles including kickers, box, incline rail and a giant A Frame.
Foxlake Adventures will now go on to fly the flag for the Central South East region at the glittering national finals of the Scottish Thistle Awards at Edinburgh’s EICC in March next year during the 2016 Scottish Tourism Week’s Signature Programme.
