Chirnside is set to embrace some seasonal Christmas spirit next weekend as it prepares to host its first ever festive fair.
The family-friendly event is taking place on Saturday, November 26, at the recently-refurbished Chirnside Community Centre, with festive entertainment and sales stalls on offer from 10am to 4.30pm.
The fair is being organised by the village’s David Hume Group to raise funds for its annual series of educational events marking the life and thinking of the philosopher David Hume, brought up at Ninewells House in Chirnside 300 years ago.
Group chairwoman Carol Jefferson-Davies said: “With Christmas just round the corner, a fabulous festive fair will start the season in Chirnside with colour, fun and a wonderful gift-packed array of arts, crafts, vintage, antiques, jewellery, ceramics, artisan breads and that festive favourite, sloe gin.”
Other attractions on offer will include a display by Allanton’s Rag Bag Morris group at 2pm, children’s Christmas crafts all day with Martha Andrews, and the sale, display and valuations of old postcards by specialists John and Doreen Hutchinson.
A prize draw will also be made on the day offering people the chance to win prizes including a £100 voucher from Pictorial Photography in Berwick or a dinner for two at Chirnside Hall Hotel.
