FOUR Duns Guides are currently working towards their Baden Powell Challenge Award, the highest award a Guide can achieve.
To complete this challenge Guides are required to do ten clauses in total, from five different zones, as well as attend an adventure.
For one of the clauses the girls chose to raise money to go towards the cost of the adventure element of their award.
Three of the girls decided to organise a sponsored swim at Duns Swimming Pool. They swam approximately 58 lengths between them. Another girl chose to sell a Christmas Quiz in various shops around Duns.
All girls worked hard on this clause and were able to raise some money to go towards the cost of their adventure. Thanks go to all those who supported them.
On Saturday, January 28, three of the girls joined West Lothian Guides on their ‘Adventure to York’.
The girls travelled by train and their activities included navigating their way to the Youth Hostel, visiting York Minster, a quiz around the town centre and some shopping, followed by tea at Pizza Hut and a visit to the Pantomime, ‘Robinson of York’.
The following day they found out about the Senior Section programme in Guiding and enjoyed a walk around the walls and down the Shambles. They then visited The York Dungeons. The girls said: “The Dungeons were the best bit! It was quite scary but brought us all closer together!”
Congratulations go to Heather, April-Lea and Kerry on completing their adventure.
