Dunbar’s inshore lifeboat went to the aid of a small fishing boat that ran aground on Sunday afternoon after its engine broke down shortly after leaving Cove harbour.

The 14 foot boat got into difficulties shortly after leaving Cove harbour south of Torness. The two fishermen on board sent out a mayday and coastguards requested help from Dunbar’s RNLI volunteers.

Deputy coxswain Mark Anderson said: “We are able to get our inshore boat alongside the pair fairly quickly and managed to tow them back not Dunbar.

“They were stuck on the rocks until we arrived with no engine power and no way of getting back to safety.”
