The event will be held at the historic castle near Duns on February 1, from 2pm until 4.30pm.

Since 2010 viewers have been gripped by the trials and tribulations of the Crawley family who live in the fictional country house Downton Abbey. Visitors to the charity event will have the opportunity to recreate the experience by touring both the upstairs and downstairs of Wedderburn Castle, which is not usually open to the general public.

A crucial part of Crawley family life is taking tea and cake, and guests will be able to indulge in this in one of the grand reception rooms. There will will be some light musical entertainment provided by the Milne Graden Chamber Orchestra and a local jazz trio, and the opportunity to walk in the castle grounds to view the snowdrops.

Downton buffs will be able to test their knowledge with a Downton Abbey-themed quiz, and everybody can try their luck in the raffle. Dressing up is optional but a prize will be awarded for the best Downton Abbey-inspired costume!

While the Crawley family would have turned their collective noses up at any sort of trade taking place at Downton, visitors to Wedderburn Castle will be able to view a carefully-edited selection of artistic, vintage and fashion-based stands.

Downton-style fashion and accessories will be embraced by Yvette Jelfs Hats and Stella and Dot jewellery who will both be there on the day – perfect for adding that extra accessory to your costume.

Living by Liz will be selling antique and vintage china and home accessories. Decorative country-themed art pieces will be on sale from Tamsin Thomson Art and Tara Grey Photography.

The Borders Children’s Charity works to help children in the Borders in financial, physical and emotional distress and It’s Good 2 Give is a Scottish charity that aims to help young cancer sufferers and their families.
