Crash closes A1 for two hours

A DRIVER of a Ford Fiesta had to be taken to Borders General Hospital on Tuesday afternoon after her car went into the back of another vehicle on the A1.

The accident happened at around 4.30pm when the 72 year old woman failed to slow down at temporary traffic lights 100 metres south of the East Reston Mill junction and the Fiesta collided with a Golf.

The woman was taken to the BGH suffering from back injuries while the driver of the Golf was treated at the scene.

The A1 was shut until just after 6.30pm and traffic diverted along the Coldingham-Eyemouth road.
