Chief executive Tracey Logan said: “The current site has been upgraded to ensure it meets everyone’s needs. It is now clean, fresh and mobile responsive. We know that more and more people are accessing our website from phones and tablets and this has been a driving factor in the redesign.

“This is just one project within the Council’s Corporate Transformation programme, which aims to modernise the way the Council works to ensure quality services are provided during financial challenges.”

Councillor Michael Cook, executive member for HR and corporate improvement said: “This is about improving services for the people of the Borders. We’ve not only given it a new look, we’ve re-written all the pages, made things easier to find and added new features, such as the easy-to-use icons on the homepage.”

Some of the new features include:

· much improved compatibility with smart phones and tablets

· bold colours with lots of contrast to help people with sight problems

· no unnecessary images, to make pages load faster (and to save on people’s data costs if using a smartphone)

· better and less cluttered online forms

· improved site navigation so that things are grouped together more sensibly

· an updated ‘A-Z’

The Council is looking for people’s views on the new site, which is powered by Jadu Content Management System. You can give feedback online when it goes live, at
