Concerns raised about Southfield Centre in Duns

Duns Community Council has concerns about the future of Southfield Community Centre because of Scottish Borders Council’s plans to form trusts to run council owned community centres, libraries and museums.

The community council also has concerns about the Continental Market that took place in the town.

There had been complaints about loud music, hygiene and the sale of items already sold in Duns. It was felt by some that the market is disruptive to local business, causing parking problems and the community council are requesting that they are consulted by Scottish Borders Council before the market is given permission in future.

On a positive note, £20,000 is available for play equipment and an open exhibition will be held so local young people can choose what they would like from a list provided.
