Community council changes proposed

Changes to the rules governing Borders community councils are being proposed and Scottish Borders Council wants to hear your views.

Among the amendments being proposed is the introduction of a clause limiting the term of office of the chair, secretary and treasurer.

The consultation also asks for opinions on the establishment of two new community council areas to cover the Upper Liddesdale and Hermitage and Tweedsmuir areas.

Following the consultation period, the responses will be considered by a review group before being presented to council for approval. The updated Community Council Scheme will then be published.
