The latest update in the on-going saga of developing Coldstream’s derelict Trafalgar House is that the work will be done in stages.
Reporting to Coldstream & District Community Council last week, Councillor John Greenwell said that he had been in touch with both the owners, St Philips Care, and the architects to be told that “as a result of costs and other ongoing projects” they are now looking at “phasing the development”.
St Philips Care has confirmed that they are “committed to developing the project and the first phase will comprise the redevelopment of the existing” building.
Trafalgar House was closed as a care home and day care centre Scottish Borders Council in 1997 and has been unused ever since. Planning permission for developing the house into three flats, plus nine houses in the grounds was granted in 1999.
