Coldstream Guides had a fantastic time in London recently.
Fifteen girls and five leaders went down on the train early on Saturday morning, made their way to the river and took a boat trip down the Thames to the Tower of London and back. What better way to see the sights!
They walked up Whitehall from Westminster to Trafalgar Square and after visiting Pizza Hut, took the tube to Wembley Arena to the Big Gig. This was a massive pop concert organised by Girlguiding, headlining Ella Henderson, Nathan Sykes from the Wanted, Gabrielle Aplin, Aston Merrygold and lots more.
After staying the night in a youth hostel they continued sightseeing, walking down the Mall to Buckingham Palace with the runners of a half marathon! Here two of the older girls, Amy Mcleod and Charlie Birkett, new Young Leaders, received their Baden Powell Challenge Award. Many congratulations to them both for this great achievement. Then through Green Park to Piccadilly Circus for a bit of souvenir shopping and on to Kings Cross to catch the train back up north.
