Cockburnspath Gala Queen, Rebekah McArthur and her court - three P7 girls and three P7 boys plus nine P1 flower girls and one P1 page boy - were escorted through the village on Saturday by Duns Pipe Band as they made their way to the village hall for the crowning ceremony.
The rain showers held off to ensure that everyone arrived at the hall dry and once inside the official part of Cockburnspath Gala Day got underway - the crowning ceremony. Chair of Cockburnspath Primary School’s Parent Council, Andrea Walker from Abbey St Bathans, was invited to perform the crowning ceremony in recognition of all the hard work she has done for the school.
The crowning complete, it was time for the fun and games to begin and there were only a couple of short showers that barely interrupted the afternoon’s entertainment.
Throughout the afternoon the children enjoyed the bouncy castle, funfair rides and face painting as well as the antics of the animal man. Things got serious for a short while for the tug of war, then it was back to the village hall to round the day off with a ceilidh in the evening.
