CASTING the Net - a Borders Arts Trust project - has landed £3,500 of grant funding from the Scottish Borders Council’s region-wide community grant scheme.

Borders Arts Trust is planning to work with regeneration groups in Eyemouth and Selkirk, focusing on the coast, fishing and how it impacts on inland Borders.

The £17,000 project will provide arts exhibitions and workshops in empty spaces in both towns involving 10 artists and members of the wider community, aiming to encourage artistic members of the public to get involved and also stimulate interest in empty shops.

An exhibition of the Eyemouth Fyfie traditional boat renovation project, led by Connect, Berwickshire Youth Project and a partnership of experienced stalwarts from the Eyemouth Initiative is also included.

Live CCTV footage from Eyemouth Harbour and Selkirk is also being included, in partnership with Eyemouth Harbour Trust.

Funding has already been agreed by Creative Scotland, the Robertson Trust, and in-kind venue hire offered by SBC Arts Development Service.
