After six years and in response to demand from members of the public, the team at Tarmac’s Dunbar Cement Plant have decided to bring back the Christmas tree which is lit up and stands proudly on top of the plant’s tower.
This year, for the first time, it has the blue circle lit up in the centre to reflect the company’s new branding, which was chosen by employees.
All the plant’s staff gathered for mince pies to await the official switch on and a great cheer went up when the tree appeared in lights.
Real Simard, interim plant manager, said: “The spirit of Christmas has definitely arrived in Dunbar. It was great to bring everyone together and to see the Christmas tree back at the top of the tower where it belongs. There have been lots of good comments from local people who are pleased to see it back too!”
