Charity decides to close Netherbyres

Leonard Cheshire Foundation are to close Netherbyres House in Eyemouth as it is no longer economically viable for the charity to run it as a retirement home.

Having grown up in the house as a boy Simon said he hoped it would be put to good use but was still unsure of its future.

Netherbyres’ three current residents, including one 103 year old have been told to find new accommodation by the of the year but have also been reassured the house won’t close until they’ve found a suitable alternative.
