Each cause received a cheque to the value of £316.66 thanks to Margaret’s efforts on January 30, having delayed her annual dip due to the fact that Spittal beach was still covered in snow when she originally intended to take the plunge.
The first cause to benefit from Margaret’s donation was Coldstream Pipe Band, who she chose for all the work they do throughout the year representing the town at various events.
The cheque was presented to Mr Duncan Bell, a member of the Coldstream Pipeband.
The next cheque went the way of Prostate Cancer. Margaret lost her father to the condition earlier this year, and her good friend Stuart Tait lost his life to the disease two years ago. The donation was presented to Susan Tait on behalf of Christine Tait, Stuart’s widow.
She said that it was important that all men should take care of their “tackle”, but joking aside it is something she felt needed addressing.
And the final cause to benefit from Margaret’s fundraising was Honour Our Troops.
Margaret felt that all serving personnel should be thanked, looked after and that their roles should never be taken for granted.
This cheque was presented to Ann Martinson, Trustee to the Board of Directors of Honour Our Troops.
Margaret has completed the fundraising dip on numerous occasions but vowed that this year would be her last.
She’s currently thinking of less cold ways to raise money!
